WHERE YOU CAN JOIN US
Over the course of two years, you will be building business applications to help support both Cavendish internally and to help our clients deliver their complex programmes of work. You’ll see how applying careful thought to data capture on multidisciplinary projects at the outset can result in powerful information being harnessed to facilitate the delivery of nuclear decommissioning and new build projects.

Cavendish Nuclear is the UK’s leading nuclear services company, with ambitious plans for growth at home and abroad. We are a wholly-owned subsidiary of Babcock International Group, delivering complex projects across the nuclear lifecycle. Our work includes supporting delivery of new build nuclear power plants, extending the working-life of existing nuclear plants and safely decommissioning legacy sites. Whether on our own, or with one of our partners, we apply proven experience and trusted expertise to deliver complex programmes safer, faster, at lower cost. We’re looking for graduates with a wide range of qualities, including high technical skills, good interpersonal skills and a willingness to learn and adapt to new circumstances.
You could be based in a number of locations, so you will need to be ready and willing to move throughout your programme. You’ll probably call Warrington, Bristol, Leicester, Newbury or Manchester home, but you could also work from client sites (including nuclear power stations, or Sellafield in Cumbria and Dounreay in Scotland).Apply now
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Although this is primarily a development role we’ll need to teach you the fundamentals of Project Controls. You’ll understand the interplay between planning, estimating and reporting systems. You will become a key member of our development team and you’ll be involved immediately in delivering value to our customers. You might be working with our existing clients helping them maximise their current suite of project controls software, or with support, you may be placed on new projects to help establish a set of robust project control systems. In addition, you’ll probably spend some time working on our internal systems helping us maximise their potential and turning data into meaningful information.
WHAT YOU’LL GET OUT OF IT
We’ll help you build a rewarding career as a versatile highly competent application developer and project controls systems specialist. You’ll learn how we design, develop and implement applications and you’ll gain a wide experience of the full application lifecycle. This will give you an excellent grounding should you wish to specialise in the future.
The range of work you’ll cover will help you figure out what you excel at. And once you know that, we’ll help you go as far as you can. We’ll support you, with your own mentor, and give you a competitive starting salary of £28k - £30k.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
You’ll need a 2:1 BSc (Hons) degree in Computer Science, Maths, Physics or Engineering. However, the most important requirement is that there has been an emphasis on coding in your degree and there will have been a focus on application or database development.
