See the list below to find out more about the areas of our business that are offering places on our Analytics programme for Autumn 2019. You could be based anywhere in the UK, that’s why we ask all our graduates to be flexible and willing to move during their programme.

INFORMATION SERVICESLearn more and apply

When you work on the scale we do, everything gets complex. Especially IT. More than 35,000 employees in offices around the world use our platform, so Information Services is one of the most important business areas within Babcock. We provide the IT support all our teams need – wherever they are and in whatever part of our business they work. All with the industry-leading level of security that comes from working with clients like the MOD. Cyber Security is critical to Babcock’s interests. If your degree has a focus on Cyber Security, Digital Forensics or has a strong emphasis in coding, then we’d expect that your primary interest is to start a career in IT security. If so, we’ll adjust your placements to ensure that whilst you’ll still spend time with the wider IT teams, a far greater proportion of your time will be spent with our Cyber Defences and Information Assurance teams located in Portsmouth.

There you’ll be able to put into practice what you’ve learnt in your degree and put it into action, defending our IT infrastructure. That’s why we take training seriously. We train our graduates up on everything from Information Technology Infrastructure Libraries (ITILs) to the proper way to handle purchasing and supply chains, so that we can continue to supply a world-class service to the business. And right now we’re implementing a global ERP platform and integrating several new international offices, so we have lots of exciting work for enthusiastic, tech-savvy graduates to get stuck into.

Our Information Services graduates are based in Lakeside near Portsmouth. However, as you may need to travel to any one of over 279 UK Babcock sites, you need to be ready and willing to move throughout your programme.

LANDLearn more and apply

The Land sector generates revenue of in excess of £1.8bn and employs close to 12,000 skilled personnel around the globe. Together, we provide vital support for civil and military customers’ large-scale fleets of vehicle and equipment; and we deliver high quality technical training to upskill our clients’ workforce. We operate in challenging, and often highly regulated environments, providing engineering services that are critical, complex and often bespoke. Our graduates have the opportunity to work across multiple industries in the sector, gaining valuable insight into how we help different customers to overcome their particular challenges.

Whilst we have locations throughout the UK, graduates tend to be based in our Greater London, Midlands or Scottish locations, though you will need to be ready and willing to move to other sites throughout your programme.

MARINE – PLYMOUTHLearn more and apply

As part of our Marine sector, our 5,500-strong business based out of Plymouth and Bristol (Keynsham) is a strategic partner to the MOD and the Royal Navy. We undertake 100% of submarine refits as well as 75% of UK surface fleet refits and 50% of fleet maintenance work. Half of the Royal Navy surface fleet is base-ported in Devonport, Plymouth including Type 23 frigates, the Amphibious Assault fleet and their hydrographic vessels. To make the most of the opportunities Marine has to offer, you’ll need to have great technical skills along with the drive and aspiration to develop your career.

Our graduates will have the opportunity to use their knowledge from either their engineering or business degrees to help us deliver our world-class programmes, develop new technologies and offer end-to-end solutions for our vast range of customers. Your development programme will have a strong focus on undertaking a number of different placements which will be agreed in line with evolving business requirements and provide you with a high level of on-the-job training. You will also be given the fantastic opportunity to network and knowledge share your experiences through our modular two-year Marine sector graduate development programme. Through these experiences you will come to understand the pivotal role you will play in our future success, how we function as an organisation, our internal culture, the importance of our customers and the wider business environment.

Your home base will be Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth, but some of your placements may be at other Marine sector locations. As many of our programmes are available at more than one location you will have the opportunity, at the end of the online application form, to select a second and/or third choice location that you would want your application to be considered for.
