You will also be given the fantastic opportunity to network and share your experiences through our modular two-year graduate development programme. Through these experiences you will understand the pivotal role you will play in our future success, how we function as an organisation, the importance of our customers and the wider business environment in which we operate.

​Depending on your programme your home base could be Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth. However, some of your placements may be at other Marine sector locations. As many of our programmes are available at more than one location you will have the opportunity, at the end of the online application form, to select a second and/or third choice location that you would want your application to be considered for.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Working as part of the multidisciplinary Safety, Health, Environment and Fire (SHEF) Department, you’ll ensure that we plan, advise and assess operations to guarantee that our employees are set up for success in terms of having the right working environment, knowledge, procedures and organisational support to do their jobs and comply with the law, local procedures and best practice. You will undertake a wide variety of challenging and exciting projects which have the potential to cover the full breadth of the department including; risk assessment, incident investigation, sharing and learning from events, assessment of employee exposure, project planning and investigating best available techniques – a rewarding experience that no other employer can provide.

WHAT YOU’LL GET OUT OF IT

When you’re playing such an important role, you need great support to develop – and that’s what you can expect. As well as professional mentoring, we’ll give you the experience needed for working towards becoming a Chartered specialist in topics such as health and safety (IOSH), occupational hygiene (BOHS), and environment (IEMA). You’ll also be starting on a competitive salary of £29k - £31k (depending on location, role and qualifications).

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

You’ll need a 2:2 BSc (Hons) degree in a health and safety related subject or environmental science subject with good understanding of chemistry and mathematics. You’ll also need to satisfy the MOD’s security requirements (and may need to complete a medical assessment).
