Human Resources is a big deal at Babcock. We have over 35,000 people with all types of expertise, working in every kind of environment, all around the world. That’s enough to fill a town. And like a town, it needs its own communications, infrastructure and support. That’s what Human Resources provide. And on this two-year programme, you’ll learn how they provide it.

WHERE YOU CAN JOIN US

See the list below to find out more about the areas of our business that are offering places on our Human Resources programme for autumn 2017. But no matter which team you join, you could be based anywhere in the UK. That’s why we ask all our graduates to be flexible and willing to move during their programme.

We are no longer accepting applications for our 2017 intake for this programme. Please take a look around the site to find out more about our graduate programmes and what it’s like to work at Babcock. If you are interested in joining our autumn 2017 intake, keep an eye out early September 2017 when our applications will re-open.

DEFENCE AND SECURITYLearn more and apply

The three services within the Armed Forces are the big customers for Defence and Security: the Royal Navy, the British Army, and the Royal Air Force. In fact, we’re the largest supplier of equipment support services to the MOD. That’s a huge range of work for you to get involved in, covering everything from through-life support and end-to-end training to complete asset management solutions. So it’ll come as no surprise that we’re big on graduates having plenty of drive in this area. You’ll need it, with placements covering the whole of the UK and work that could see you undertaking firefighter training one day and undertaking a tank inspection the next.

OUR LOCATIONS

All graduates in Defence and Security relocate every six months, so you need to be ready and willing to move throughout your programme.

WE WORK ON A ROLLING APPLICATION BASIS AND THIS ROLE IS NOW CLOSED WHILST WE REASSESS DEMAND AND CURRENT APPLICATIONS. IF REQUIRED, WE WILL REOPEN, SO PLEASE CHECK BACK ON A REGULAR BASIS.

MARINE AND TECHNOLOGY - ROSYTHLearn more and apply

Rosyth might be the most unique of our sites within Marine and Technology. Nearly all our teams have a foothold here, so the range of work is huge. Right now, projects within the oil and gas, renewables and commercial marine sectors are making use of our unique mix of engineering, design and manufacturing skills. In the past year alone, we started work on the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm – a 400 Megawatt (MW) project being built by energy company E.ON, alongside partners in the UK Green Investment Bank plc. It will include 116 turbines, with the nearest located 13km from shore.   Alongside these commercial projects, we also take on some warship support work and took care of over 50% of the detailed design for the UK’s new aircraft carriers, the largest and most powerful ships ever built for the Royal Navy. It’s epic stuff. Which is why we look for real team players with the right attitude and technical skills to get involved in projects like these. In return, you’ll get experience in five incredible sectors (naval and commercial marine, renewables, oil and gas, liquid gas equipment, and civil nuclear) and enjoy the support of a dedicated graduate management team.

OUR LOCATIONS

Your home base will be Rosyth, but your placements may also be in Edinburgh, Tyneside, Bristol, HM Naval Base Clyde or Devonport (Plymouth).

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Human Resources is a big field. You’ll learn about everything from recruitment and selection, employment law and employee relations to bids, management information and project management. You’ll see how we work closely with the business to create the strategies that find and retain the best people and develop the skills our business needs. Project by project, your skills will develop and your understanding of how to support different disciplines in different parts of our business will grow. In the end, you’ll have a big picture understanding of one of the UK’s biggest businesses.

WHAT YOU’LL GET OUT OF IT

Once you have sight of the big picture, you’ll have a much better idea of what you want to do with your career. We can help you figure that out and provide you with all the support you need to achieve professional status, such as with the CIPD. And while you work towards that, you’ll enjoy a competitive starting salary of £27,000 - £30,000.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

You’ll need a 2:2 (Hons) degree in Business Management, Law or another relevant subject. You’ll also need to satisfy the MOD’s security requirements (and may need to complete a medical assessment) and have a full, clean UK driving licence. Note: for our Marine & Technology - Rosyth programme you will need a minimum of a 2:1 degree.
