CAVENDISH NUCLEAR – BRISTOL (PROCESS)Learn more and apply

What you’ll be doing

You will be based in Bristol and over the course of the placement have the chance to apply your Chemical Engineering knowledge in tackling challenging problems related to the nuclear industry. There is potential for design work, hands-on pilot plant work, as well as onsite visits to civil nuclear facilities. You will be part of a multi-discipline engineering team, engaged on real projects working towards the clean-up of the 60-year old nuclear legacy of the UK.

 

What you’ll get out of it

To ensure you get the most out of the experience, you will be assigned a buddy, mentor and manager. Regular performance reviews and sessions will be built into your time with us to assist your development. Opportunities will also include meeting a range of people, from graduates to directors, who will share their experiences and expand your industry knowledge.

 

Cavendish will help you develop a wide range of skills and give you the chance to work with supportive and knowledgeable professionals. This should provide you with invaluable experience to take back to university and build upon. The placement, if all goes well, could lead to further employment on Cavendish’s IChemE accredited graduate scheme.

MARINE – BRISTOL OR LEICESTERLearn more and apply

What you’ll be doing

As part of the Marine sector, our 1,500-strong Defence Systems Technology business based out of Bristol or Leicester works on a range of exciting design, manufacture and support projects, with a number of key clients domestically and internationally. As a result, we’re looking to recruit talented, enthusiastic and driven people to join our team.

During your placement, you’ll work as a member of a multidisciplinary, professional engineering team and have the opportunity to contribute to the business straight away. To succeed in this role, it’s essential that you have a positive attitude, as well as a creative and inquisitive approach to problem solving.

What you’ll need

At Keynsham, we provide critical engineering support services to in-service and future Submarines for the Royal Navy. At Devonport, our 6,000-strong business based out of Plymouth is a strategic partner of the MOD and the Royal Navy. We undertake 100% of submarine refits as well as 75% of UK surface fleet refits and 50% of fleet maintenance work. As a result, we’re looking to recruit talented, enthusiastic and driven people to join our team. We have opportunities across a variety of disciplines including Engineering, Science, Computer Science and Project Management. You will undertake at least 3 placements across the business which will provide exposure to the many different workstreams across the site. You will also have the opportunity to work with multiple teams and gain real insight into our business.

What you’ll need

MARINE – PLYMOUTH (QUANTITY SURVEYING)Learn more and apply

What you’ll be doing

Based at Devonport, Plymouth, we offer a 12-month Quantity Surveying placement. You will be ready to take on challenges and will be given the chance to experience our dynamic commercial business unit. The placement will provide an opportunity to gain a more in-depth experience in most aspects of the project lifecycle associated with the functions of a Quantity Surveyor with a diverse range of projects across our business (£10k to £100m). We will teach you the required commercial and contract management skills needed to perform all tasks.

 

What you’ll get out of it

To ensure you get the most out of the experience, you will be assigned a buddy, mentor and manager. You will also have regular performance reviews and attend sessions to help you develop key skills. There will be plenty of opportunity to visit our other sites and meet placement students from across the Devonport Site. During your time with us, you will meet a range of people, from graduates to directors, who will share their experiences and expand your industry knowledge. If you have a successful placement with us, you will be fast-tracked through the graduate assessment process. During your time with us, we will help you develop a variety of skills and give you a chance to work with supportive and knowledgeable professionals, giving you a wider variety of experiences for you to take back to university.
