At Babcock, we’re passionate about inspiring young people to explore the endless possibilities of working in the fields of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

That makes The Big Bang UK Young Science and Engineers Fair an important annual fixture for us. It’s the largest celebration of STEM for young people in the UK. It gives 7-19 year olds the chance to get involved in over 100 hands-on activities, attend mind-boggling shows and hear from inspiring engineers and scientists from some of the UK’s biggest companies.

At this year’s event (which ran from 13th-16th March), we met hundreds of young people who enthusiastically joined in with the exciting activities we’d set up for them. From working out how to refuel a submarine in less than 2 minutes (using a series of pullers and cranes), to learning about the science behind measuring radiation, there was a lot to see and do on the Babcock stand.

Of course, we also talked to them about the fascinating career opportunities in STEM – and at Babcock. We hire thousands of STEM professionals to work on fascinating projects around the world every year. We are proud to be involved in The Big Bang and to do our part in helping inspire the next generation of STEM – and Babcock careers.
