CAVENDISH NUCLEARLearn more and apply
Cavendish Nuclear is the UK’s leading nuclear services company, with ambitious plans for growth at home and abroad. We are a wholly owned subsidiary of Babcock International Group, delivering complex projects across the span of the nuclear lifecycle. Our work ranges from design and build and working-life extensions of existing nuclear plant to the safe decommissioning and remediation of legacy sites. Whether on our own, or with one of our partners, we apply proven experience and trusted expertise to deliver complex solutions. We’re looking for graduates with a wide range of qualities, including high technical skills, good interpersonal skills and a willingness to learn and adapt to new circumstances.
You could be based in a number of locations. You’ll probably call Bristol, Leicester or Manchester home, but you could also work from client sites (including nuclear power stations, or Sellafield in Cumbria).
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
You will be a key team member on every placement. You might be working with teams that are developing the nuclear safety case for a nuclear facility; providing structured arguments and evidence that gives a compelling, comprehensive and valid case that a site, facility or system is safe. Or you may be involved with the assessment of options for waste treatment and disposal from nuclear decommissioning projects, which could include discussions with a range of stakeholders to optimise solutions or develop mitigations for implementation. Equally, you may be looking at environmental enhancement projects to improve the areas around client sites. The possibilities are many and varied. Whatever you work on, you can be sure you’ll be making a real difference.
WHAT YOU’LL GET OUT OF IT
We’ll match your passions to your skills to help you build a rewarding career as a versatile and highly competent specialist, whether that’s within Waste Management, Environmental, Decommissioning Planning or Nuclear Safety Case assessments.
The range of work you’ll cover will help you figure out what you excel at. And once you know that, we’ll help you go as far as you can. We’ll support you, with your own mentor, as you work to become a Chartered Environmentalist or Chartered Scientist and give you a competitive starting salary of £28k - £30k (depending on location, role and qualifications).
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
You’ll need a 2:1 BSc (Hons) degree in Physics, Engineering, Environmental Science / Studies or Chemistry (or related subjects). You’ll also need to satisfy the MOD’s security requirements (and may need to complete a medical assessment).
